Is Billsprig really free?
Yes. You get 5 PDF downloads every calendar month, unlimited printing, invoices, quotes, estimates and receipts, three templates and 22 currencies, with no account. Free PDFs and prints carry a small “Made with Billsprig” line at the bottom.
Why not Invoice Simple?
Invoice Simple is a popular invoicing app sold by monthly plan: Essentials $4.99 a month for 3 invoices a month, Plus $13.49 for 10 a month and Premium $19.99 (Capterra, checked 2 Oct 2026). If you would rather not pay every month, Billsprig Pro Lifetime is $29 once with unlimited PDFs, and the free plan already gives you 5 PDFs a month.
Why not invoice-generator.com?
It is a good free option. Billsprig adds quotes, estimates and receipts with a PAID stamp, tax and discount per line, a Pay online button, offline use as an installable app, and it keeps everything in your browser, never on a server.
Is my data private?
Yes. Billsprig runs entirely in your browser. Your business details, clients and documents are saved only on this device, and the PDF is made on your device. Nothing is uploaded. Use Backup to copy your data to another device.
What does Pro add?
Unlimited PDFs with no footer line, your logo on every document, saved clients and a price list with autocomplete, automatic numbering (INV-0001, INV-0002…), one-click quote → invoice → receipt, an invoice history with paid/unpaid status, CSV export for your accountant, the Bold template and your own accent colour.
Can I cancel?
Yes. The $4 monthly plan cancels any time from the link in your Stripe receipt email, and Pro then switches off by itself. The $29 Lifetime plan is one payment with nothing to cancel.
Can clients pay online from the invoice?
Yes. Paste your own Stripe, PayPal or Square payment link and the PDF shows a clickable “Pay online” button. Billsprig never touches the money.
Can I make a receipt or an estimate?
Yes. Pick Receipt for a paid receipt with a PAID stamp, date paid and payment method, or Quote / Estimate for a price before the job, with a “valid until” date.
Which currencies and tax types work?
22 currencies including USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, NZD, INR, JPY, CHF and ZAR, each formatted the local way. Call the tax VAT, GST, HST or sales tax and set a rate per line; mixed rates are listed separately.
Does it work on my phone and offline?
Yes. Billsprig is made for phones too, and once it has loaded you can install it and use it with no connection.
