How it works
- Measure. Pick the trade, type the room or job sizes in feet and inches or metres. The calculator shows every formula and the assumptions it used.
- Price. Add the result to the estimate: materials at your price-book cost plus your markup, labour as hours × your rate. Add custom lines, tax and a deposit.
- Send. Download a clean PDF with selectable text or print it. Your client can accept with a typed name and date.
Eight trade calculators, formulas in plain sight
Painting estimate calculator
Wall area = 2 × (length + width) × height − doors − windows. Paint = area × coats ÷ coverage, rounded up to whole gallons or litres; optional ceiling and primer; labour hours at your production rate.
Flooring estimate calculator
Boxes = area × (1 + waste %) ÷ coverage per box. Underlayment rolls, baseboard linear feet (doorways taken off) and labour hours.
Tile
Tiles = area × (1 + waste) ÷ (tile + grout joint) size; boxes by tiles per carton; thinset bags at your coverage.
Drywall
4×8 or 4×12 sheets for walls and ceiling minus openings, joint compound buckets and tape rolls, labour per sheet.
Roofing
Footprint × pitch factor = roof area; squares with waste, bundles per square, underlayment rolls and ridge cap.
Fencing
Sections from post spacing, posts (plus corners and gates), rails, pickets or panels and concrete bags per post.
Decking
Board rows from board width and gap, boards by length with waste, and joists at your spacing.
Concrete
Slab volume in cubic yards or m³ with waste, as 60 lb or 80 lb bags at the yield you set, or ready-mix rounded up.

Is this estimate template really free?
Yes. All 8 calculators, the estimate builder and printing are free with no sign-up. You can download 3 estimate PDFs a month for free, with a small "Made with Quotesprig by CyberMax" footer. Pro removes the limit and the footer.
How are the quantities worked out?
Each result shows its formula next to it. Coverage, waste, sizes and production rates are labelled assumptions you can edit to match the products you buy and how fast your crew works. Quantities are estimates from your inputs and assumptions; check manufacturer coverage and local codes before ordering.
Why not Joist?
Joist is a popular estimating and invoicing app; its plans were $10, $17 and $32 a month when we checked on 2 Oct 2026. Quotesprig is for contractors who want the quantities worked out for them: 8 trade calculators feed the estimate directly, there's no account, and Pro is $7 a month or $49 once.

Is my data private?
Yes. Quotesprig runs entirely in your browser. Estimates, clients and prices are saved only on this device; nothing is uploaded. Use Backup (JSON) to move them to another device.
What does Pro add?
Unlimited estimate PDFs without the footer credit, your logo on every PDF, a saved price book (materials and labour rates), saved clients, estimate history, one-click invoice PDFs from an estimate, good/better/best options on one estimate, and CSV export.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Monthly Pro cancels any time from the link in your Stripe receipt email. Lifetime is one payment with nothing to cancel.
Does it work in metres?
Yes. Switch to metres and every calculator uses m, m², litres and cm or mm, with metric defaults you can edit. Feet can be typed as 12'6" or 12.5.
Can my client sign the estimate?
The PDF has an acceptance block with name, signature and date lines. If your client accepts in person, type their name and the date into the app and they print on the PDF.
