How it works

  1. Pick an agreement. The Mutual NDA is free. Pro adds the Professional Services Agreement and the Design Partner Agreement.
  2. Fill in the Cover Page. Parties, dates, term, governing law and the deal details, with a plain-English note under every field. The contract builds as you type.
  3. Download and sign. A PDF (or Word file with Pro) with the Cover Page, signature blocks and the full Standard Terms. Sign on paper or upload it to your e-signature tool.

About the agreements

Pactsprig uses Common Paper's standard agreements, written by a committee of attorneys and published free to use under CC BY 4.0. Each one has a Cover Page for your deal details and Standard Terms that stay the same for everyone. Pactsprig copies the Standard Terms word for word, names the version and keeps Common Paper's attribution on every document. Changes you agree on go on the Cover Page, which is how the standard is designed to be used.

Questions

Is the NDA template really free?

Yes. The Mutual NDA is free: fill in the Cover Page, preview it and download up to 3 PDFs a month, or print as often as you like, with no account. Free PDFs and prints carry a small “Prepared with Pactsprig by CyberMax” line in the footer. The Common Paper attribution stays on every document, free or Pro.

Why not LawDepot or Rocket Lawyer?

They are big legal-document services with many document types, e-signature and, at Rocket Lawyer, access to attorney help, sold by subscription: LawDepot from $7.99 a month billed yearly or $33 a month, Rocket Lawyer $39.99 a month (search summaries, checked 2 Oct 2026). If you need those extras, they are good choices. Pactsprig does one thing: fills in recognised open standard agreements, privately in your browser, for $29 once.

Why not Bonsai?

Bonsai is a freelancer suite with contracts, e-signature, proposals and invoicing; contracts come in its Essentials plan at $25 per user per month (search summary, checked 2 Oct 2026). If you only need a solid NDA or services agreement, Pactsprig is free for the NDA and $29 once for the rest.

Where does the contract wording come from?

From Common Paper's standard agreements, written by a committee of attorneys and published free to use under CC BY 4.0. Pactsprig includes the Standard Terms word for word, with the version number and the required attribution and links. Pactsprig is not affiliated with or endorsed by Common Paper.

Is it a mutual or a one-way NDA?

Mutual: both sides protect what the other shares. That is the usual choice between two businesses, for example before a sale, a partnership or a supplier review.

Can I change the Standard Terms?

Not directly, and that is the point of a standard: both sides know the wording has not been touched. If you agree a change, type it in “Changes to Standard Terms” on the Cover Page; the Cover Page wins over the Standard Terms.

How do we sign it?

Each document has signature blocks with name, title and date lines. Print and sign, or upload the PDF to the e-signature tool you already use. Pactsprig does not collect signatures.

Is my data private?

Yes. Pactsprig runs entirely in your browser. Party names, deal terms and saved companies stay on this device and the PDF is made on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

What does Pro add?

Every agreement (the Professional Services Agreement with Key Terms and a Statement of Work, and the Design Partner Agreement, as well as the Mutual NDA), Word (DOCX) export, unlimited downloads, no Pactsprig footer line, saved companies and Cover Page presets, and a JSON backup.

Can I cancel?

There is nothing to cancel: Pro is a single $29 payment that you keep. Your unlock code works on your other devices too.

Is this legal advice?

No. Pactsprig fills in published standard agreements; it is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. Have a lawyer review important contracts. Pactsprig never claims a document is right for your situation.
